I read a book called the sign of the beaver by Elizabeth George Speare. it is about a Twelve-year-old Named Matt Hallowell.
the book describes how he and his father built a log cabin in the Maine territory in 1768. While his father returns to fetch Matt's mother and sister, Matt must survive for months on his own. As brave as he is, Matt is not prepared for an attack of swarming bees and is surprised when he is rescued by Chief Saknis, a Penobscot Indian, and his grandson, Attean. The boys come to know each other as Attean learns to speak English from Matt, while Matt learns to become a skilled hunter from Attean. When it's time for the tribe to move north to new hunting ground, Saknis offers to adopt Matt and take him north with the tribe. Though many months have passed, there is no sign of Matt's family. Matt would be proud to be Attean's brother, but he also knows he must wait for his own family.

haiti article

When news of the deadly earthquake in Haiti struck, administrators at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center immediately knew the disaster would hit close to home. The hospital lies in central Brooklyn—the city's Haitian stronghold—and many of its staff and patients hail from the Caribbean nation. A Haitian pastor was brought in to comfort those who lost loved ones, leading a Thursday prayer service that drew more than 100 people. The hospital launched a collection drive for the American Red Cross and two of its doctors who had been planning a medical mission to Fort Liberte near Haiti's borer with the Dominican Republic shifted gears and prepared to leave for Port-au-Prince, where they hope to set up a clinic to treat fractures, lacerations and minor traumas.“I have so many patients from Haiti,” said Dr. William Lois, the hospital's chief of surgery. “I want to help.” As it became apparent that as many as 50,000 people could be dead, that same desire echoed across the city, from radio stations and community newspapers in Brooklyn assisting desperate New Yorkers looking for family members in Haiti to companies big and small pledging millions of dollars in donations.Money flooded into New York City-based aid groups at record clips. And leaders of the city's Haitian community—which numbers more than 122,000, including nearly 74,000 in Brooklyn—poured themselves into relief-organizing efforts via an extensive network of professional and community-based organizations. Small groups took off for Haiti to assess the damage and report back on the best ways to help. “Everybody is geared up for a sprint, but this is not going to be a sprint,” said Dr. Stephen Goldfinger, chair of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, which lies in the heart of Brooklyn's Haitian community. “This is going to be a marathon.” The Association of Haitian Physicians New York chapter had 60 volunteer doctors and 40 nurses at the starting block, but was waiting for word from an advance delegation before deploying them, according to Dr. Georges Casimir, a psychiatrist and past president of the group. “People like me who are anxiously awaiting news and are not sure what to expect are getting involved in whatever projects we can,” said Dr. Casimir, who as of Thursday had not heard from five siblings in Haiti. “That's the only way I'm dealing with it.”

The song that reminds me of a time or place is a song called "Declaration This is it"by Kirk Franklin. It reminds me of when I was in the fifth grade. I was the honor guard at my graduation. In my class The honor guards were named Taevon Jones, Ahmonique Evans and myself. Efia Antubam was an honor guard too.At the end all of the honor guards were lined up in front of the stage and the rest of the students stood on the stage. Then we started singing the song and every one was happy. I was with all of my friends and my family was nearby.Every time I hear this song it reminds me of my graduation day at my school.By the way, the honor guards get to sit in front when it came to sitting arrangments. This is why the song reminds me of my graduation day.

HOMEWORK #94 Reading Response

Chapter 3 its about how Johnny goes to church with his friends family to church and for his first time he is sing in front of strangers but he has flashback about how his mom use to tell him that to join the school chores but he cant only hit "do,re,me" when he hits "fa,so,la,ti" his voice could brake a mirror. when he got to church he was really nervous.
i think high school will be different from middle school because the work will be harder. The teachers will be different and tougher. The students will look and probably act more mature. The classes will be longer, but you will have fewer classes than you do now.I do think middle school is prepareing you for high school. The work and obstacles of this work we do now in the 6th grade is preparing us for the next and next and for the grades we will go to in the future. The work we do now is easier than the work we are gonna face in the future grades.
Sherlock Holmes written by Sir Arther Conan Doyle is a intersting book. the story takes place in cities. The main charcters are Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Waston.

Soon after those years Dr. Waston got married and tured those cases into adventures. Soon Waston's wife dies. Waston was walking by London when he saw he was on Baker Street. The date was March 20, 1888. He looked up and he saw Holmes on the second floor window working hard on a case. Dr. Waston went upstairs to say Hi to Holmes. A stanger came to the house and gave Holmes and Waston a case so they start off to investgate.

At the end of this case took a long time Holmes thought he solved the case but then he saw a letter that was for him. Fooled by Mrs. Irene Norton. Sherlock Holmes is hired by a retired art supply dealer from Lewisham, Josiah Amberley, to look into his wife’s disapearance. She has left with a neighbour. Holmes is too busy with another case at the time. So he sent Waston to see want is going on. Waston followed Josiah's daughter and found somthing and tooled Sherlock Holmes. Amberley’s alibi fell apart when Holmes discovered that his seat at the Haymarket Theatre had not been busy on the night in question, its number went down from the ticket that Watson had seen. Also, the painting was a clue. Holmes realizd that it was being done to mask a smell, and he soon discovered what that was gas. He found a gas pipe leading into the .

strongroom with a tap outside. Amberley had lured his wife and her lover for so he had believed Dr. Ernest to be — into the strongroom, locked them in, and turned the gas on, killing them out of jealousy. He had simply hidden the “stolen” valuables somewhere. In indelible can not erase pencil, one of the victims wrote “We we”, meaning to write “We were murdered

This part of the story was about how Rowley had a cmoic strip called Zoo-Wee Mama but he quit that because he said he wanted more time to play with his ''Dinoblazer action figures. So since Rowley's magic act was toast, Rodrick and his band were in the talent show, and let me just tell you they really sucked. It was so bad that Mr. Heffley had to leave the auditorium and put earplugs on. It was certainly not pretty.
